Technical Readout: 3025 Revised

From Lostech Wiki

Although its proper title is Technical Readout: 3025 (subtitle: The Succession Wars), this product is often referred to as the Technical Readout: 3025 Revised; it was the first revised Technical Readout to be published.

The reason for the revision was the Unseen issue, a legal situation that did not allow the artwork for certain BattleMechs to be shown in official products anymore. This revision of Technical Readout: 3025 was supposed to supplant the original book, even retaining the same production code, but it removed the infamous Unseen (the entire entry, not just the artwork) and replaced them with appropriately downgraded Succession Wars era variants of various Star League era designs of from Technical Readout: 2750. All of these Technical Readouts were later collectively merged into the Technical Readout: 3039 and are out of print now.

In-character, it purports to be a 3058 revision by Wolfnet of the original ComStar work from 3025. As a nod to the missing Unseen, the author remarks that some well-known units were cut that required no revision and that the original entry from the Technical Readout: 3025 could still be used.

From the back cover[edit]

''In the year 3025, war rages across all of known space. The Successor Lords vie for supremacy over the entire Inner Sphere, each commanding a vast army of troops. At the forefront of these forces are BattleMechs, 12-meter tall humanoid juggernauts bristling with enough firepower to level a city block. Centuries of war have taken their toll, and 'Mechs have become scarce and valuable. The presence of these behemoths on the battlefield often spells the difference between victory and defeat!

This revised edition of the original Technical Readout: 3025 features the most popular and powerful BattleMechs of the Succession Wars, as well as a selection of support vehicles, aerospace craft and rare Star League-era 'Mechs. Each of these war machines is illustrated in detail, accompanied by a description of its history and capabilities and complete BattleTech game statistics. Fully compatible with the BattleTech boxed game.''

Remarks on content[edit]

  • The in-character contribution for the original publication (TRO:3025) is given by Adept XVII-sigma David Keith, ComStar, 5 June 3025 (though it was unattributed when released). The in-character contribution for revised edition is given by Major-General Margaret Tulliver, Deputy Director, Wolfnet, 22 March 3058.
  • The last page contains an index, which is not listed in the Table of Contents.

Notes[edit]

  • Unlike some other revised TROs, this one did not have the word "Revised" in the cover title. Instead, it was only located on the banner page.
  • This book is now partly included in Technical Readout: 3039 (without space ships).
