This article is about a fanmade game mod by NimoStar.
It should not be confused with official sources.

MechCommander: Lostech is a modification by NimoStar which can be downloaded for free from ModDB and installed on the official (and freeware) MechCommander: Desperate Measures, or the fan package Darkest Hours (by RiZzen), with "Omni" options for installing on other fanmade campaign packs.

The package includes over 100 new weapons and components as well as an overhaul of all 'Mechs and vehicle loadouts. These loadouts include several variants of each vehicle, diferring on each faction for weapons and other characteristics, as well as having faction-specific pilots.

Another novelty to the last version, 0.8, is the addition of special player-controllable units and pilots that can call unlimited airstrikes, like the Aerospace Spotters.

Canonocity[edit]

Over 90% of the new weapons and most of the new loadouts are canon or canon-based within the BattleTech official universe. However, some of the new weapons are fanmade variations, such as the Clan Targeting Railgun, and a few are completely original such as the Tesla Repeating Coil.

Overall, the mod is much closer to th canonical BatleTech than the original Mech Commander game. This includes a whole vehicle rebalance where their armor and payloads are rebased into compliance with tabletop BattleTech rules (the original Mech Commander vehicles were very underpowered compared to their original counterparts, and had armor and structure bugs).

Features[edit]

  • Over 100 new weapons, sensors and components.
  • Refitting all 'mech variants with the new weapons and components (with most being canon-based).
  • Many new vehicles with canonical loadouts.
  • Vehicle refitting with appropiate structural integrity and weapons, making them more worthy opponents.
  • Vehicles are faction specific (Clan vehicles, IS vehicles, Capellan vehicle buy screens).
  • Specialist pilots for each vehicle type, as well as their faction-specific variants.
  • A new 25 ton Clan BattleMech (The Fire Falcon).
  • New pilot roster for the Capellan Confederation, with faction-appropiate pilots, bios, images and names.
  • Controllable vehicles and pilots that call airstrikes (as an Aerospace Spotter).

Beta Campaign bugs[edit]

The main bug in the mod is exclusively relevant to campaign mode. Due to limitations that crash the game, loose components in the player's inventory, if they are the mod's new ones, aren't included on savegames or passed in between missions. They can be saved if included inside 'mech loadouts (even if such mech isn't currently in use).

However, these components can be salvaged from downed enemy 'mechs or component buildings.

"Refitting" action on 'mech using unlisted new weapons also crashes the game.

This error is being worked on, but there are no leads on how to fix it thus far.

Component List[edit]

Clan components appear in red schematics, while the interface is capellan-themed.

This section is under construction.
Note: Components are listed in the order of the game file.
Components in bold are new or changed into different ones.
