The Dark Matter Railgun is an energy/ballistic hybrid weapon that utilizes electromagnetic forces to shoot condensed Dark Matter for gravitational distortion impact.
Attack characteristics[edit]
It has the range of a Light Gauss Rifle but the stopping power of the AC/20. This weapon can benefit from Targeting Computers.

Weapon characteristics[edit]
The Dark Matter Railgun includes the mechanisms to condense the Dark Matter on the spot, which would otherwise create a gravitational distortion around the 'mech or vehicle at all times.
This means it doesn't need ammo, even though its attack is treated as a ballistic shot.
On the other hand, due to the extreme energy profile of the weapon, it needs to have practically the whole energy directed to it in order to fire. This means in practice it becomes impossible to fire the Dark Matter Railgun and move in the same turn (including using Jumpjets since they are powered by the engine). Only Superheavy units may move normally the same turn they fire.
If the Dark Matter Railgun is destroyed by a critical hit, the unit becomes shut down until the end of its next turn, time needed to reroute the power systems.
