Burglar (SpheRonald's)

This article is about a fanmade Mech by NimoStar.
It should not be confused with official sources.

The Burglar (standard code BUGL-R) is a light scout-and-steal BattleMech developed by SpheRonald's for the Corporate Conflict.

It was built secretly to BattleMech specifications, and is thus not an IndustrialMech as many other CorporateMechs were up to this period.

The Buglar features a hidden blade in one arm, while the other has a Rock Cutter to enter protected vaults and deposits.

It is protected by Stealth Armor and an ECM.

Both a Supercharger and a MASC unit, which can work in tandem, mean the Burglar has a prodigious potential running speed; though it is not nearly as fast when just walking.

The Burglar features a virtual reality piloting pod in the torso. This allows to mount the ECM on the head, further confusing any opponents, who may believe they are facing a drone or remote-controlled unit.

The Mech is not prepared much for head-on combat, but it can take on light SecurityMechs or Support Vehicles with the blade or rock cutter should it be discovered and cornered. The primary means of defense, though, is stealth and speed. Preferrably the 'mechs are used on missions where no engagement is expected or desired. Industrial espionage and the "securing" of enemy cargo are some of these mission profiles.

SpheRonald's has denied any wrongdoing. Though they never released the 'mech specifications, they have insisted that the Burglar is "unarmed" and its "tools" are "merely for work and entertainment".

Analysts, however, insisted that Stealth Armor is way too expensive to be put on a mech just to give a show. This not withstanding that the Burglar was only ever used for shows very few times and seemingly in response to their discovery and controversies, probably used this way in order to "justify" their so-called "harmless" existence.

Variants[edit]

No additional variants are known, but there could be many in theory. The secrecy surrounding this 'mech is notorious.

Burglar BUGL-R[edit]

The presumed original and only known variant, though its unusual designation as "R" raises doubt.
